Privacy Policy

My data protection policy at Hope Floats:

As the sole ‘data controller’ of your personal information I will be fully transparent about usage, storage and disposal of your data. I will fully inform you of your rights to manage what data I store.

  • The only data I collect from you and store, is data which is relevant to your acupuncture treatment. 

  • Some information on your patient sheet is for the purposes of identifying you from other patients. 

  • The medical data is both to ensure that the treatment is appropriate to you and to enable me to do my job as Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist to the best of my ability. 

  • Any contact information will never be used for marketing purposes without your prior consent.

From May 25th 2018, a new set of regulations ensure all personal information that is collected about individuals from businesses, for whatever reason, is protected and taken only with our consent. The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) set out guidelines for how this is to be done.

Storage of data:

  • If you contact me with the purpose of making an appointment, I may store your contact number purely for contact about appointments, it will never be shared with any third party.

  • As agreed at the time of collection of your data, the details will be securely stored for a seven year period from commencing treatment and then disposed of.

  • If at any time within the seven year period your data will be kept you would like your data to be deleted please email me.

  • All data is stored on paper notes. It is not stored by me, electronically anywhere. All notes are securely stored in a lockable filing cabinet, within an alarmed building. I, Clare Doherty, am the sole key holder of all keys required for access.

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask me to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask me to complete information you think is incomplete. 

  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask me to erase your personal information. 

  • Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.​
